The Words You Leave Behind

We can't take anything with us, but we can leave something behind: words outlive us. ~ C. R. Murugiah
Operate outside of the lifetime allotted to you
Friend, I have something important to share with you. Something so important it can change your standing in heaven. I have a lot to say and I'm thanking you in advance for your patience.
I need you to understand you can work outside of your lifespan.
This begins with a simple question:
How are you stewarding your time?
What seeds are you planting?
If this concerns you, it should. Are you looking at the now or at the future? How far into the future are you looking? One generation, two, maybe three? Your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren.
In case you missed it, I'm going to say this again: you have the power to operate outside of the lifetime allotted to you.
Once you get this, it will change the way you see life. It is so simple that you live with it, that it surrounds you daily, but do you see it? Do you truly see it? Do you understand the power you have in your hands, the power to continue outside of your own life on earth?
Most people will dismiss it and say 'it's not for me', or they'll feel ashamed, imposter syndrome, they'll feel regret and shrug it off.
What separates the greats from everyone else? Legacy.
How are their words remembered? We are surrounded by quotes. We are surrounded by information. Those who leave a mark, those who leave something behind, operate outside of their lifespan.
C.S. Lewis is one of the most famous writers of the 20th Century. He wrote fiction, non-fiction, did radio shows.
He is with the Lord. Yet, his books, to this day, are being used to make disciples.
His words are still reaching the lost and bring them to the Lord.
He is operating outside of his hourglass.
He is operating outside his alloted lifespan.
Your scale may be different but you do not have to be restrained to your lifespan. C.S. Lewis is a man outside of time.
He is not alone in this. Many have put their words to paper. It has never been easier to form a book. If they did it, so can you.
There is a problem though. We are surrounded by information, lost in a sea of it. Not all knowledge is worth keeping. What makes yours stand out? Why should anyone listen to you? Why should your children listen to you? What is your hard-won experience worth? Is your voice worth hearing? What sets you apart?
This is where I come in.
Read on, if you'd like to hear more.
Operate outside of the lifetime allotted to you
Hello friend, I'm here to tell you an uncomfortable truth. It's a truth that's ticking away in the back of each of our minds. It's a reality, it's a certainty, and no one is able to avoid it:
Your time is short.
It's almost over.
You press on to the prize.
You run the race.
You reach the finish line.
You've made your election sure.
You are justified, sanctified, now you're welcomed home.
You did it!
You can claim your crown and you'll throw it at the feet of Jesus.
Heaven's in celebration at your homecoming.
The streets are lined.
The angels are roaring.
You enter the great cloud of witnesses.
You are in glory with the One Who paid it all.
You join in Heaven's song and the triumphant procession of Christ.
You see fruit of your labour, receive your reward...
"Your Time is short"

What if I told you there was a way to give Him more?
What if instead of giving Him one lifetime of fruit, you could offer the Lord your God generations of fruit?
The fruit of your lifetime can continue to multiply
***You have to take action now.***
Once you're with Him, the your work on earth is done.
Here's the choice. Do you give Him a return 4 talents or 10 talents?
The question is how.
If you remain in Him and His word in you, you will bear much fruit.
The only question is how much?
You can be a good steward of your time after you are gone. A wise man leaves a legacy for his children's children.
"You have to take action now"
***What if you could keep producing when your hourglass is empty?***
Our time is limited. You can only achieve so much in one day. You can only achieve so much in one lifetime. We each have an hourglass and that time is ticking down.
The saying goes "time is money"
You trade time to make money.
Here on earth, gold and silver are our money.
But what is the money - the currency - of the Kingdom?
Faith.
But it isn't just your faith. It's the faith in Christ others have. That's what makes disciples. You don't follow someone you don't believe in, someone you don't have faith in.
The commission is to make disciples.
But you only have so long. One hourglass, one lifetime.
What if you could keep making disciples after your hourglass is empty?
What if you could keep up the earthly-working dividends for your heavenly account after you're with the Lord
I've got news for you friend, you can.
The key is simple. It's something you see every day. It's something you hear every time you go to church, even time you crack open your Bible. It's something you're reading right now.
The answer is words.
Let me ask you, if Jesus' followers hadn't recorded His words, where would we be? What would we have? Oral tradition. Before Genesis and the other books were written down, it was all oral. But we are no longer in a culture that values oral tradition. We value what is recorded, what is written. Which holds more weight in court: a written account, dated and signed, or an oral witness?
Put another way, how many of grandma's stories about her grandma do you remember? How much has been recorded in your family history?
Your stories don't have to be lost. Your experiences don't have to fade. What's the difference between an anecdote and a book that speaks directly to you?
Write your words down.
Books endure.
Friend, it's not a matter of condemnation. It's not a matter of obligation. It's a question of how much you want to give to the One Who gave it all.
No good tree can bear bad fruit.
Stay the course and you'll receive your reward.
You'll hear "Well done good and faithful."
You can be satisfied knowing you've given Him your lifetime's fruit.
You can rest knowing you that you made it, that through it all, you walked with God.
Peace, hope, joy, no more tears, no more sorrow.
Eternity is yours.
You are with Him.
But... What if one lifetime's worth of fruit isn't all you're capable of producing?
Think about it for a moment. If you work 9-5 40 hr/week 14-65, that's one lifetime's work. It will net you some gains, you'll buy a house, have a wife, children, a dog or two, and you'll have lived a good life.
So how is that some are able to purchase many houses? Run multi-million dollar companies starting from nothing, born on the wrong side of the tracks?
We hear about these things all the time. Have you heard of 'leverage'? Of course you have! Leverage your time, leverage your money, make your money work for you, compound interest, make money while you sleep -
It's almost a cliche at this point.
The common thread in this is wise investments, timing, and applying leverage. These things are built on God's own principles, principles Jesus taught us. The principle of the sower. The principle of Abraham - as many stars, as many grains of sand, so shall your descendants be. Reproducing. How was Solomon able to amass such wealth? Trade routes, marriage-alliances, royal merchants, and - leverage using his father's name. David won forty years of peace for Solomon.
Think about that for a moment. Solomon utilised David's name to bypass years of war.
What does this have to do with you?
"What if you could keep producing when your hour glass is empty?"
"No good tree can bear bad fruit"
"What if one life's worth of fruit isn't all you're capable of producing?"
You have the power to leverage your time to create wealth that will continue to produce after you are gone
Your words, written now, can see continual returns from a place of rest.
You can sit back and let the fruits of your labour increase.
Those streams of 'residual passive income'.
That silver and gold that keeps producing while you sleep.
What if your one lifetime could produce fruit over many lifetimes?
What if your time spent on earth could keep producing, 30, 60, 100 fold?
Do you want to keep reaping after you're gone?
The harvest that keeps on giving?
The tree that's gone but keeps producing?
But you have to act now. Investment is about knowledge and it is about timing. Leverage means utilising what you have to multiply and amplify the little into much.
"You have the power to leverage your time to create wealth that will continue to produce after you are gone."
"You have to act now"
Fruit After You're Gone
Project yourself into the future for a moment, a future when you are no longer here on earth but your children, their children, and their children's children are.
Who do they turn to?
Where's grandpa? He's with the Lord - that's you. They're facing the same struggles you did, new challenges for their generation. Same old struggles just with another face. You figured it out, maybe the hard way, so will they.
But what if you could make it easier for them?
What if you could guide them without being beside them? What if they could draw inspiration, hope, and encouragement even though you're not there.
There's that secret for you again: your words live on.
It sounds simple, almost too simple.
How many books have you read from authors who have passed on?
They still speak to us even though they're gone.
Plant now, sow in faith, prepare the soil and the land will remain fertile even when you're you're not here.
The Words You Leave Behind
Be the branch that keeps on giving. Leave a legacy for your children's children. Create the wealth of knowledge that will remain. Picture it: your own book of wisdom, your collective lessons. Your experiences. Words that guide, words that teach, words that remain.
Learn to co-create with God and write even if you say you're not a writer.
What it will take? Six months. Your time, your money. You sow your seed and invest.
What's the duration? Generations.
What's the reward? Your enduring voice for those times when they need you but can't call you, can't text, to guide and advise, to remind them that you got through, so can they, to tell them what matters most.
Is it worth it? You tell me. Are your children, your grandchildren and their grandchildren worth investing in? Where you put your time and money is up to you. How you spend your time and money is your choice. But to me? My children are my treasure and they are worth investing every penny I have, every moment I have.
How do you want to be remembered is not as important as what you want to be remembered.
So -
What do you want remembered? The stories passed down, or your words from your hearts to theirs? You can have both.

Learn to write even if you're not a writer

We can't take anything with us, but we can leave something behind: words outlive us. ~ C. R. Murugiah
Do you have something you want to say?
Do you have a story or journey you want to tell?
Are you a businessman or woman who has gone through the struggles and successes, and want to leave a legacy to your children and children's children?
We are hardwired for stories. These stories are our testimonies. What we've been through, where we've come from, what shaped us into who we are, our experiences, our failures, our triumphs. They are a roadmap of our life.
Many of those I speak to of the younger generation don't know who they are, don't know where they're going, are terrified of making a wrong choice. They haven't been properly mentored, haven't been given guidance, and many of them scorn the very idea of mentorship. They want to do it on their own. They want to make it on their own.
I know this because I used to be one of them. Since then, I've grown up enough to realise how I can't get there by myself, how I need others, how the most valuable thing we can hand down is our experiences. Knowledge by itself is meaningless.
Wisdom by itself falls short.
Application is important, but knowing where the pitfalls are, knowing when to move and when to stand still, when to speak up and when to hold one's tongue, this is necessary but the most important thing, even above this, is your name. It is your character. Your integrity.
Your reputation matters.
Your reputation is built on your actions and on who you are. Your experiences help shape you; the values you hold, the virtues you characterise, these speak more than just knowing when or how to do a thing. Yet, the biggest advocate of your name, your reputation, is not actually you: it's those around you. How do they speak of you? When you're out of the room, what stories do they tell about you?

Hello, my name is Colin and I have been serving as an author coach for many years, privately to friends. I've been a writer for over two decades. Now I have expanded my horizons and I've begun helping businessmen and women to reflect on their life journeys, hold them accountable in writing their stories, and drawing out their experiences from them.
As a businessman or woman, you should understand the value of vision. You should understand the need for purpose. You should recognise how valuable integrity is.
Over the decades, there are only a handful of people I've met who see the need for vision. Many lack the means, the motivation, the message and don't know what to say or how to say it. If there is motivation, if there is means, which includes time which is one of our most valuable resources, then I can help you with what to say and how to say it.
I help you frame experiences as something to be learnt from.
If you have a book that you are called to write, called to share, I can help you put pen to page, fingers to keyboard.

How it works
I have one-to-ones with each client. Nothing we speak of is shared externally until you share it through your writing.
I sit down with you and interview you, work through my method with you, which is individually tailored and bespoke to each client using my framework, discuss goal-setting with you on a schedule that works for you and hold you accountable. I'll explain how to market it (if you're unsure) and when you have a manuscript, I'll put you in touch with my editor. Once you're happy with that, I can put you in touch with my translator if you'd like your work to be translated into Spanish.
You write the book.
I help you with techniques, tips, tricks, different ways of writing. I brainstorm with you and draw out the essence of what you're saying and help you expand upon and frame your experiences. If you don't know how to write, if you've never written more than 300 words in one go before, that's okay too: there are ways around that. If you have a voice and something to say, we can work with it.
What I don't do
I won't write it for you.
I won't publish it for you.
I won't market it for you.
In closing
I believe in establishing relationship and working closely with each client so that the book you write will be one you're proud to hand to your grandchildren long after you're gone, so your experiences and wisdom won't be lost.
If any of this sounds of interest to you, get in touch with me. I'd love to have a conversation with you. Of course, my time is limited, so appointments are subject to availability.
What are the experiences you want to pass along?
